We’ve designed the Female First Academy as a dedicated space where young female athletes receive top-tier coaching, focused development, and leadership opportunities, all while building a strong sense of confidence and community.

The Academy is guided by a passionate team who understands the importance of visibility, opportunity, and support for young women in sport:
Coach Brad Cheeseman – Academy Director, passionate about growing the female game and building next-level skill development pathways.
Coach Hannah Janes – Dedicated club basketball coach with a strong background in youth mentorship.
Coach Shivohn Peters – Certified fitness & performance trainer, integrating strength & conditioning directly into the program.

What to Expect This Season
While Female First is unique in its purpose, it still follows the proven structure of our club basketball programming—with high-quality practices, competition opportunities, and a supportive team environment.
Here’s what your athlete can expect this season:
🏀 Club Basketball Season Breakdown
Season Length: September 2025 – April 2026
Practice Frequency: 2 team practices per week + optional skills training sessions
Strength & Conditioning: Optional strength and conditioning sessions
Games & Tournaments: Participation in local leagues and competitive events. Potential travel for select teams.
Team Placement: Players are grouped based on age, skill level, and development needs
👧 Available Age Divisions
U10 Girls (Grades 2–4)
U12 Girls (Grades 5–6)
U14 Girls (Grades 7–8)
U16 Girls (Grades 9–10)
We aim to create A and B teams where numbers allow, ensuring competitive balance and optimal development at every level.
Every session is designed with intention. Our core development pillars include:
Fundamentals & Skill Work: Ball-handling, shooting, footwork, and finishing
Basketball IQ: Game situations, decision-making, team offense and defense
Confidence Building: Emphasis on self-belief, voice, and leadership
Athlete Education: Guest speakers on sport psychology, nutrition, leadership, and more

U10 Girls (Grade 2-4)
Split into two groups: Grades 2–3 and Grades 3–4
A fun and educational intro to basketball
Focus on learning the basics of the game while playing fun games and jamborees.

Designed for athletes ready to play against other teams and local competition
Emphasis on both team and individual development.

Competition level increases; no more fair play rules
Athletes compete in games and tournaments
A key stage for serious skill development.
