What league will Avalon Basketball players participate in?

Avalon Basketball is will play in the NLBA league, by the Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association of Sport NL.

Avalon Basketball teams may also participate in invitational tournaments when they are available for registration. Any leagues and tournaments that athletes participate in will have an additional fee to pay for officials and gym time.

Additionally, beginning in 2026, Avalon Basketball club players will gain free access to the Avalon Basketball 3v3 League. This will provide Avalon Basketball players multiple weekends of 3v3 League games.

Can my athlete play on multiple club teams and play with Avalon Basketball?

No, players can’t participate in Avalon games and play on another NLBA league club team.

Can my athlete join or switch to another club team after joining Avalon?

Per league/ NLBA rules - players cannot switch clubs/ teams after the October declaration date. Avalon Basketball is not responsible to ‘release’ a player to another team or club. Once a player is registered with a club, they cannot switch clubs after October until the following season.

How does playing time work at Avalon Basketball?

Each age group has different playing time rules. U10 and U12 programs will focus on fair play, which means that all athletes will have an opportunity to participate in the game. U14, U16, U18 age programs are not fair play, which means that playing time will be based on a competitive rotation.

What else do I need to purchase to participate in Avalon Basketball?

It is mandatory for all new players to purchase the Avalon Basketball uniform. It is required for all club league games. Players don’t need a need a new uniform each season, but can purchase bigger sizes should they require them. Coaches will send out an order form at the beginning of each semester.

What is the difference between the roster types for Avalon club basketball?

Our coaching staff will split players into multiple teams based on skill level. Typically, there is an evaluation session during one of the first few practices for coaches to determine the team rosters.

What is the payment structure for Avalon club basketball?

In addition to the initial Fall registration fee, the Avalon club basketball payment structure is broken down into the following payments of $295.00 each (+HST and processing fees):

  • October 2026: Fall #2 Payment / Season Opt In Payment

  • January 2027: Winter #1 Payment

  • February 2027: Winter #2 Payment

  • April 2027: Spring Payment

Once a player opts in to the season in October, they will submit their payment plan for automatic installments for the remainder of the season, based on the schedule above. Once a payment plan is submitted, automatic payments cannot be stopped.

What is the refund policy for club basketball fees?

Registration fees for club ball become non-refundable beginning two (2) weeks prior to the season start date, as Avalon Basketball incurs significant expenses based on the number of registered athletes. Families who wish to explore registration protection may explore Registration Insurance offered through TeamLinkt and its third-party partners (not Avalon Basketball or 709 Basketball). In the event of a medical injury that prevents an athlete from participating for more than one (1) month of scheduled practices, the family may submit a request for consideration. If approved by the Avalon Leadership Team, a program credit (not a refund) may be issued for use toward a future Avalon Basketball or affiliated club program. Medical documentation may be required, and all credit requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
